Māori and Pasifika Trades Training support available in Northland
Te Matarau Education Trust offers fees-free trades training in Northland. We strive to work alongside Māori and Pasifika students to achieve their professional goals and identify, work towards and remove barriers to learning.
We provide manaaki tangata wrap around support to all of our ākonga (learners) across Tai Tokerau / Northland. Te Matarau Education Trust supports our learners through Level 3 & 4 trades training and onto employment by working with a holistic view under the ethics of tika, pono and aroha.

Te Matarau means many faces. The tribal bodies who make up Te Matarau Education Trust are Te Uri o Hau, Ngātiwai, Ngāti Hau Trust Board, Ngāti Hine and Ngai Takoto.
To apply with Te Matarau Education Trust, you’ll need to meet the following criteria:
- Applicant must be 16-40 years of age
- Applicant must be Māori or Pasifika
- Be a student enrolling in one of our recognised programmes at NorthTec, or other approved education provider
